DESIGN PROCESS
The space had become a rarely used playroom and wasstarting to become overrun with toys and unwanted items. In renovations by previous owners some of the architectural character had been stripped out.
Our first job was to restore this character so we added a wooden dado rail in an exact replica to the rest of the house. We also added ceiling roses for the same reason.
The room is narrow and their was only one location for a double bed – we decided it would be nice for guests to have a view out of the countryside when sitting in bed. We chose
rattan bedside shelves which saved space and matched the existing chest the client wished to keep.
We had two pairs of curtains from another room to re-use, we used one in the traditional way and re-purposed the other set into cushions and a bed spread to match. Taking
the beautiful pattern around the space and adding colour.
We used the curtains as a base for the scheme and pulledthe neutral and accent yellow around the room with textured wall paper and Farrow and Ball paint.
It was wonderful to create this room using so many existing items in new and exciting ways.
