CLIENT PROFILE
A young girl in need of a ‘big girl’ room and her own space after sharing with her sibling.
CLIENT BRIEF
- Create a design for a young girl to grow into not out of.
- Completely re-design the scheme to include all furniture, decor and soft furnishings.
- Design built in cabinets to provide much needed storage in the alcoves.
- Add smart lighting to this heritage space and future proof this listed building.
DESIGN PROCESS
The room is vast and offered many possibilities in terms of layout. We designed wardrobes by combining IKEA inners with bespoke elements to elevate them and disguise their origin story. We added hand painted bespoke doors and plinth. We added cute bobbin beading and handles and painted in a classic white. This combination achieved the whimsical but timeless look we were aiming for.
We chose a feature mural that made the most of the huge ceiling height, a feminine cherry blossom in beautiful hues of pink and brown. We used this palette to influence the rest of the room and layered the room in texture.
We chose a boucle bed and hand-made linen weave curtains to add depth and interest in this huge space.
We replaced the outdated pendant light with an elegant ceiling light. We used LED light across the top of the wardrobes for good general light. We added a feature Neon light in the girl’s name to make the space personal and to give ownership over the space . (Light changed in image to protect privacy). We added smart light controls so they have lots of options to create their own ambience.
We are sure we have created a stunning space for this young girl to ‘blossom’.
