A semi-retired couple based in a duplex apartment in Bushey, Hertfordshire.



CLIENT BRIEF

Transform a completely white hallway space
To add personality and interest.
To brighten up the dark hallway
To pick a wall covering that can be hung in the 6 m drop stairwell
To be in keeping with the Mediterranean vibe of the living space



DESIGN PROCESS

The height of this stairwell space was tall challenge (literally) and we had to select the perfect mural. to stand up to the scale. After looking at what felt like hundreds our determination paid off and we came across this gorgeous wallpaper. Most of the murals became out of proportion for such a tall wall but this pattern repeat suited it well and nodded to the Mediterranean feel of the lounge. The client loved the colourful punch it brought to enhance this dramatic stairway.

The skylight illuminates the bright paper and gives the space a completely different feel. It is a bold statement that really pays off in this space.

Downstairs we selected one of the colours from the paper to run under the bamboo dado rail. The bamboo style adds more personailty than your average panelling piece. The paint colour here also had to tone with the lounge as the spaces were visually connected. The vibrant red/orange we selected added the much needed wow we were after.

The space now matches the vibe of the clients and it brings them so much joy as they move through their home. We know this because they told us!
